My Story

I’m a bilingual Dietitian, Certified Diabetes Educator, published researcher and part-time nutrition professor at the University of Ottawa. Beyond those fancy titles, I’m just a regular gal with a packed schedule, much like yours!

I’ve learned to prioritize healthy eating alongside everything else, and now, I’m dedicated to helping you do the same!

My story

Catherine Pouliot, MSc, RD, CDE

I started my career as a registered dietitian with an open mind, seizing every opportunity that came my way. At the time, there were very few permanent dietitian positions available, so I took on contracts in hospitals and community health centres filling in for dietitians on maternity leave.

Switching jobs every year was both a blessing and a curse. It allowed me to gain diverse experience, but it also became exhausting given my high-achieving personality and desire to leave each workplace better than I found it. With each new role, I gathered fresh insights on how best to support my clients.

No matter the clinical area I worked in, there was a common thread among all my clients: most of them knew what they “should” be doing to live healthier lives, but struggled with figuring out “how” to make those changes stick:

Most people think of dietitians as professionals giving advice on what to eat and why. I approach things from a different angle—focusing on the ‘how ‘. It’s become my true specialty as a dietitian and my ultimate mission with my business – Cooking with Cat (also known as CWC). 

Outside of work, I live a busy and active lifestyle. The truth is, balancing priorities became second nature to me, ever since I left my home at age 13 to train 40 hours per week as an elite synchronized swimmer. I’ve now made it my job, literally, to help you find balance in both your busy life… and your plate.
