Meet the CWC Team

Food, nutrition & kitchen skills—with a realistic approach.

Cooking with Cat started as a one-woman show, but it’s grown into something bigger. Today, the CWC team brings together dietitians who share the same belief that nutrition should be practical, evidence-based and actually fit into real life.

Owner & Dietitian

Catherine Pouliot, MSc, RD, CDE

Catherine (a.k.a Cat) is a registered dietitian, professor at the University of Ottawa and the founder of Cooking with Cat. She has over a decade of experience as a dietitian, working across a variety of clinical settings and supporting thousands of clients and families. She is also a Certified Diabetes Educator and holds a master’s degree in Human Kinetics.

But her credentials are only part of her story.

What Catherine loves most about being a dietitian is helping people take what they know about nutrition and actually make it work in their lives. Naturally curious, practical and a bit of a problem-solver, she works with clients to find solutions that fit their unique circumstances rather than handing them a list of rules to follow.

Her approach is evidence-based, but also flexible, realistic and human. Catherine wants her clients to feel comfortable being honest about what’s working, what isn’t, and what real life actually looks like. No judgment, no food guilt—just practical strategies, useful skills and plenty of room for the foods they enjoy.

Her own busy, active lifestyle has shaped the way she practises. She loves staying active, taking on new challenges and making time for the things she enjoys. These days, you’ll often find her running, playing golf, baking, cooking or trying to squeeze all of the above into a busy week. She knows firsthand what it’s like to have a full calendar and feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day—which is why she believes nutrition should fit into your life, not compete with it.

Karissa Jeha

Dietitian

Karissa Jeha, MSc (c), RD

From a young age, Karissa could often be found in the kitchen with her parents and grandparents, learning  everything she could about food. That early interest led her to complete her Honours Bachelor’s degree in Food and Nutrition Sciences at the University of Ottawa, where she discovered a passion for nutrition counselling, cooking with others and the role food plays in lifelong health.

Karissa continued her studies with a Master’s in Nutrition, where her interests grew to the intersection of nutrition education, food skills and real-world impact. Her research focuses on food literacy in children and the role hands-on cooking experiences can play in nutrition education. She is particularly interested in helping people build confidence and a positive relationship with food through learning, experimenting and getting involved in the kitchen.

As a CWC team dietitian, Karissa takes a collaborative, practical approach to nutrition counselling. She works with clients and families to turn nutrition knowledge into skills they can actually use, adapting her approach to their goals, preferences and everyday lives. Whether through 1:1 nutrition counselling, food skills education or hands-on cooking, her goal is to make healthy choices feel accessible, achievable and sustainable.
